If you’ve never had a personal cast or sculpture made of your hands, you’re missing out. Sean Garman is not only a hand sculpture artist, but an artist that is able to capture precious moments and memories in beautifully detailed sculpture works molded from your own hands, feet, or upper torso.
During the hand sculpture process, the person or persons being cast will be asked to place their hand or hands either on a table or into a special bucket where the mold will be created. When casting couples hands, a bucket will be used. For hand castings with more than two hands involved, you will be asked to put your hands on a table where the liquefied mold material will be poured over your hands.
You will need to keep your hands as still as possible for a few moments. Once the mold has set, you will be asked to gently remove your hands from the mold – then the casting material is poured into the mold. The entire molding process usually takes between 30 and 40 minutes to complete. The rest of the process is left up to your hand sculpture artist. The casting will need to be removed from the mold, and any excess material will need to be removed, detailed, and sprayed.
